Two Spoons – Episode One: Out of the Drawer [Radio Show]

insight by Joshua Perrett

Genesis. ‘Two Spoons’ was the first-ever radio show to be made by Butty Hands, the start of a new era for us.

Now we could write out comedy sketches with many characters in it, and act them out ourselves. And we didn’t have to rely on someone as stable as a hula-hooping jelly to film now that we’d entered an audio-only world.

During our first attempt of radio, we recorded two sketches: ‘Catching Up with an Old Friend‘ and ‘The Chairman’. The former is dark, following two friends who meet up in a park after not seeing each other for a while, only for Claudia’s dog to turn on Francine’s baby. The latter is about an undercover policeman who’s stolen someone’s chair.

We also included some podcasty/chat showy segments in which we discuss what ever’s happened to Professor Snape, Alan Rickman, and try to figure out how to get to the local strip club.

Finally, to play us out, we hired the musical services of the Rughuggers, a band found in the city, outside of an Aldi supermarket. Things did get a little out of hand, though, when it turned out they weren’t quite as skilled as their £5000 price tag made out.

Anyway, enjoy it while you can:
